This Alley organ was rebuilt and enlarged by George S. Hutchings in 1889 with a projecting keydesk, mostly new action, and a new Swell chest; the mahogany veneer case was retained, as was much of the Alley pipework. When the Andover Organ Company rebuilt the organ in 1957, the chorus stops and reeds were revoiced, the Pedal division enlarged, and the stop and Pedal actions were electrified. Most of the original pipes were retained, but the wind pressure was lowered slightly.

This organ was built for the Highland Congregational Church in Roxbury, Mass. and served there until the church closed in 1979. Two tonal changes were made by the Lahaises when the organ was reinstalled in Newburyport. The Mixture was added to the Great and the former Spitz Viola 4' was repitched to make the Flageolet 2' in the Swell. Barbara Owen was consultant to the church.
